BNSP H2S Certification Process
To get certified, individuals must complete a training program followed by a competency test. This process is managed by a BNSP-licensed Professional Certification Body (LSP).
1. Training
The training typically lasts 2-3 days and covers the following topics:
H2S Fundamentals: The characteristics, sources, and health effects of H2S gas.
Safety Regulations: Relevant national and international regulations, such as those from the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).
Gas Detection: Practical training on how to use and interpret readings from gas detectors.
PPE Use: Proper selection, fitting, and use of safety equipment, including Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
Emergency Response: Procedures for evacuation, rescue, and providing first aid to H2S victims.
2. Competency Assessment
After the training, participants take a competency exam to demonstrate their proficiency. The assessment includes:
A written or online test to evaluate theoretical knowledge.
An interview with a certified assessor.
A practical simulation or skills demonstration, such as a mock rescue or using a gas detector correctly.
3. Certification
Upon successfully passing the assessment, the individual is issued a BNSP H2S competency certificate, which is typically valid for 3 years.
